REVIEW: Breakfast at Hollywood Studios with RARE Characters? Say No More!

By admin Jun17,2024

Disney World’s character meals are some of our favorite dining experiences!

Hollywood & Vine

There are lots of restaurants for adults to enjoy by themselves like California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Narcoosee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, and many more. But character meals offer a special kid-approved dining option that we adults love just as much. They are great places to interact with the characters one-on-one and get some special entertainment, too, while enjoying your meal. We recently headed over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to enjoy a special a character breakfast at Hollywood and Vine!

Hollywood and Vine offers not one, but TWO different character meal options! For breakfast, you can dine with Disney Jr. characters while Minnie and her friends are waiting to hang out with you for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is located next to Echo Lake and 50’s Prime Time Café. We stopped by for breakfast at this restaurant and had SO much fun!

Atmosphere

As we mentioned above, Hollywood & Vine is located in the Echo Lake section of the park, right next door to the 50s Prime Time Cafe. This is currently the only restaurant in Disney World where you meet different characters depending on which meal you attend.

Let’s go to breakfast!

Inside the restaurant, you’ll find a mix of tables and booths throughout. There’s enough space in the floor area for the characters to move around and meet people.

There are also some different decorations up on the posts throughout the restaurant. This meal is known officially as the “Disney Junior Play ‘n’ Dine” breakfast.

And of course, there are four characters you traditionally meet during your meal! Doc McStuffins is here to fix any ouches…

Fancy Nancy is ready to entertain us with her spectacular dance moves…

…and Vampirina always likes to make us laugh! You can also meet Goofy during this meal.

Now that we’ve toured the restaurant, let’s talk about the menu!

Menu

Hollywood & Vine is a buffet meal all day long, and they’ve got quite the spread for breakfast.

Pastries

First, there’s a large display of breads and pastries, as well as butter and jam. Anyone want a bagel?

Bagels

Some of the pastry selection includes cinnamon rolls, muffins, and danishes.

After that, you’ll come across the bowl foods, AKA grits and oatmeal! You can top these dishes however you’d like.

Want to fill up a bowl?

And of course, they have a selection of fruits and salads for those who want something a little bit healthier.

This is also the spot where you’ll find granola, guacamole, and hard-boiled eggs.

Cold bar

Making our way over to the hot foods, we’ve got Disney’s iconic cheesy breakfast potatoes. We LOVE getting these at breakfast buffets!

And we can’t skip on the sausage or scrambled eggs!

Eggs and sausage

One item that was popular during our visit was the Egg White Frittata, and it’s sandwiched in the line next to a heaping platter of bacon.

For you plant-based eaters out there, try the Plant-Based Frittata with Tomato Jam. This is a bit of a lighter option.

Or if you’ve got a sweet tooth, scoop up a healthy portion of French toast with banana topping!

The buffet was also home to eggs benedict…

…and these tiny Spicy Chicken & Doughnut skewers. They look delicious!

It wouldn’t be a Disney breakfast without a bit of corned beef hash

…or a platter of biscuits and gravy.

And last but not least was the smoked sausage, peppers, and onion skillet.

There’s also a small kids’ buffet that really anyone can snag eats from. They had Mickey waffles, tater tots, and pancakes.

Did you think we forgot about dessert? No siree! They served both a seasonal bread pudding

…as well as an apple crisp! How do we choose just one?! Good thing we don’t have to!

For anyone who wants the basics, they’ve got a cereal bar with three different choices.

And to top off your meal, there’s an ice cream machine!

You can top your ice cream with sprinkles, chocolate syrup, or caramel syrup.

Toppings!

Now let’s make a plate and dig in!

Eats

Our plate!

Of course, one of the first things we tried was the Bananas Foster French Toast, which was shockingly good for a buffet option. The brioche French toast was nice and soft and had a great amount of cinnamon and powdered sugar and the bananas foster sauce reminded us of the center of a cinnamon roll — gooey and sweet. The one complaint is that we wish the edges of the French toast were cooked a little bit longer.

So many yummy eats!

The Spicy Chicken & Doughtnut Skewer was one of our favorite parts of the meal! The doughnut was sweet and soft but nothing overly special. The chicken was fresh and juicy and truly was slightly spicy! We would say even a bit more than the traditional “Disney spice.” This was one of the only items we went back for to get seconds.

Had to get the chicken and doughnut!

The other items were pretty standard Disney breakfast buffet fare, from Mickey waffles to traditional pastries. The meats (bacon and sausage) were also delicious, and pretty much exactly what you’d expect from a buffet.

One thing that’s nice about the buffet at Hollywood & Vine is that they have an omelet bar with plenty of customizable selections. We felt like the buffet here trended towards more “healthy” options than other Disney breakfast buffets, with tons of fruit, egg white frittatas, chicken patties, and more.

YUM

And of course, we can’t forget the ice cream machine! Who doesn’t want to finish their breakfast with a sundae?! It’s pretty basic Disney ice cream but it’s fun because you have the option for unlimited servings.

Dessert!

So how did we feel about this meal overall?

Overall

All in all, we were pleasantly surprised by this meal! We didn’t have the highest of expectations because breakfast buffets are often fairly basic, but we enjoyed nearly everything we ate, with some standouts like the French toast and the Spicy Chicken & Doughnut skewer.

Autograph Card

If you’ve got any Disney Junior fans in your family, this is a MUST. The characters were a lot of fun, even when visiting as an adult who doesn’t watch their TV shows, so we can only imagine what it must be like with kiddos who love them!

Nosh or Not?

Make a breakfast ressie for Hollywood & Vine if…

  • You have a Disney Junior fan. This meal is PRICELESS for fans of Vampirina, Fancy Nancy, or Doc McStuffins. You can currently only meet those characters in Hollywood Studios at Animation Courtyard, so having a meal with them as well will be extra special.
  • The other dining options in Hollywood Studios don’t sound appealing. We’ll level with you — Hollywood Studios doesn’t have the besssst dining in Disney World. We’re fans of 50s Prime Time Cafe and The Hollywood Brown Derby, but if neither of those sound good to you, this is a great third spot for a sit-down meal.
  • You want to eat a LOT. Buffets, man. BUFFETS.

Skip this spot and grab breakfast on the go if…

  • You’re on a tight budget. This isn’t a cheap meal ($47 per adult and $30 per child) so if you’re wanting something budget-friendly, we suggest looking elsewhere.
  • You don’t have a connection with the characters. If you don’t want Disney Junior shows, it’s a little harder to connect with the characters. Instead, maybe try coming here for lunch or dinner to meet Minnie Mouse and friends!
