Wiederholt’s Supper Club – Hastings, MN

The food is very good, and it must be because we drive 40 miles to get there! I had a small filet, and it was perfect. Kurt had the Prime Rib Special, and it was thick-cut and marbled, just like he likes it. Very nice relish plate and yummy rolls and toast basket.

Phils Tara Hideaway  – Stillwater, MN

Greek food at a supper club? Yes, and it’s good. Phils is classic and easy to get to right off the highway. Classic steaks, broiled walleye, fish fry, and you get a choice of potato or a side of pasta which is a nice change of pace.

Fisher’s Club – Avon, MN

Fisher’s Club is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, and it is known for its classic American cuisine and lakeside setting. The restaurant was famously co-owned by Garrison Keilor. The restaurant has a casual and relaxed atmosphere, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The menu features a variety of classic American dishes, such as their famous walleye,  ribs, and roasted chicken.  The food is consistently good, and the portions are generous.

Jensen’s Supper Club – Eagan, MN

The filets are generous 8-ounce portions and done just right. The Ceasar salad is fresh, crisp, and flavorful, and served with real parmesan. The fresh baked, steaming hot popovers are true comfort food, served with whipped honey butter and amazing. Also, don’t miss the coconut shrimp and the cosmopolitan because you know I am bringing back the 90s. The service is always friendly, professional, and efficient.

Creekside Supper Club – Minneapolis, MN

This place was re-imagined to look like an old super club, and they really did it right down to the fountain in the lobby and the cigarette machine. Walleye, fish fry, prime rib, and an excellent short rib round out this menu with a nice selection of potatoes, including loaded baked hashbrowns or au gratin. Get the popovers and the smoked trout spread too.

Laurel Supper Club – New Richmond, WI

The Laurel has a good selection of traditional supper club cocktails, including a brandy old-fashioned. We were all served fresh from the oven popovers with honey butter and a water carafe. Three of us had variations of shrimp as our main entrees (served with salad, soup, and a choice of potato), and another had prime ribs.

Simpsons Super Club – Waupaca, WI

This has been a favorite spot for my family and other visitors to the Chain of Lakes for years. Broiled haddock, broiled fish, and prime rib are their specialties, along with the au graten potatoes.

Ishnala Supper Club, Lake Denton, WI

This supper club on Mirror Lake outside Wisconsin Dells is a classic. My parents were engaged here and celebrated their wedding anniversary here as well.  The restaurant got its start in 1953 and specialized in the Old Fashioned.  The menu features the usual steak, seafood, duck, ribs, fish, and lamb. Reservations are not accepted, and the restaurant is only open seasonally, typically from April through October.
