A super popular ride has been temporarily closed in Magic Kingdom. If you wanted to take a ride on the “wildest ride in the wilderness,” you may have been out of luck recently! But we’ve got some good news, dear readers.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
If you’re brave enough to take on Disney’s roller coasters, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad may be the ride for you! This fan-favorite attraction takes you up, down, and all around — it’s like you’re riding a runaway train out West. But the ride has been temporarily closed for a few days for some routine updates and refurbishments.
Disney previously announced that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad would be closed from January 16th through January 20th. Well, check your calendars — the ride will officially REOPEN in Magic Kingdom soon.

According to the Disney World website, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be back up and running on January 21st. Make sure to pack your best pair of cowboy boots and your finest hat for the occasion!

If you’re traveling to Disney World this year, make sure to pay attention to the refurbishment calendar! So far this year, we’ve seen multiple attractions close for refurbishment, including Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Oh, and the Country Bear Jamboree is set to close for an extended period of time starting January 27th, 2024. Disney announced that a NEW version of the show will open this summer.

Plus, keep in mind that the Disney Skyliner is closed now through January 21st, 2024.

This popular form of transportation has been closed for routine maintenance, but it should be back up and running soon!
