The Last of Us Part 2 PC port is ready to be released and has been since last year, according to new report – WGB

It seems like a PC version of The Last of Us Part 2 has actually been ready to release since November 2023.

That’s according to reliable leaker Billbil-kun of Dealabs, the very same person who recently accurately reported on God of War: Ragnarok being the next PlayStation game to come to PC.

Writing in French (but lets now hold that against them) Billbil-kun says that based on their information, development of the PC port began in 2021.

“Furthermore, and this is the most important information in this article, we believe that the  development of the game is well finished , and this  dates back to at least November 2023.” said Billbil-kun. This is a direct translation using Google Translate, so it may not be perfect.

The PC port will likely be based almost entirely on the 2024 remaster of The Last of Us Part 2, with a few extra PC-specific things thrown into the mix such as widescreen support and upscaling tech, much like the God of War: Ragnarok PC port.

If the game has been ready for over half a year, what’s the hold up? Well, Billbil-kun understandably speculates that Sony has held the port back in order to release it alongside the second season of The Last of Us TV show on HBO.

Currently though, the second season isn’t due out until 2025, a rather long time to wait. But if the game is already finished and ready to go, it’s not like it costs Sony and Naughty Dog anything to leave it sitting on a hard drive somewhere until season two is released for maximum effect.
