Minnesota Meat Markets

A tasty plate of grilled goodness starts at the meat market. Luckily, Minnesota has plenty of local butchers and meat markets, many of them family-owned. These are a few of my favorites, but no matter where you are in the state, you can ask around or Google your way to finding a new spot for all your fresh meats.

  • The St. Paul Meat Shop – located on Grand Ave, they feature whole-animal butchering.
  • Kramarczuk’s — The Northeast institution with Eastern European flavors.
  • Clancey’s — Another Minneapolis institution that also has excellent sandwiches.
  • Hackenmuellers — A traditional go-to spot in Robbinsdale with 120 years of history.
  • Zup’s — My favorite when I am up in Ely.
  • Thielen Meats — Located in Pierz, it’s a must-stop on your way up North.
