Minnesota Fish Fry season is here! Our Wisconsin friends to the east “Fish Fry” all year long, but in Minnesota, we generally reserve such fried fellowship for the Lenten time frame. This year Lent is through March 28, so may I suggest you partake at your favorite restaurant? Here are a few of my favorite 2024 Twin Cities fish fry options. And, of course, you can always just head to your local church basement on Fridays. That’s the real Minnesota way to do it!

5 Twin Cities Fish Fry Favorites
- Brunson’s Pub — Available year-round, this fish fry is no slouch. Our friends Molly and Tom have re-imagined your favorite dive bar on Payne Avenue in St. Paul. You’ll get Summit beer-battered fried cod served with lemon and tartar sauce and a side of fries or coleslaw.
- Bull’s Horn Food and Drink — A favorite spot for fried chicken, this Minneapolis neighborhood bar also features an excellent Friday fish fry. The beer-battered walleyed is top notch.
- Lucky 13’s Pub — This locally-owned restaurant group has locations around the metro so you can get your fish favorites wherever you are. Choose from their pub fish fry or fish sandwich.
- Mac’s Fish and Chips — Mac’s is a fast-casual spot featuring made-to-order walleye, halibut, cod, shrimp, and clam strips with fries or curds. You can take it out or eat in. This fish is flaky, satisfying, hot, and fresh.
- Urban Growler — You can get your fish fix every Friday at Urban Growler all year long. The fish is panko-breaded, and is a real authentic Wisconsin-style fish fry at Minnesota’s first women-owned micro-brewery.
