Everything Coming to the NEW Hotel Building at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

HUGE changes are happening at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

The Polynesian Village Resort

Disney is in the process of creating a WHOLE new set of Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas, and we’ve been following the construction of the project since it began. The new villas are set to open later this year, but Disney hasn’t set an exact timeline or opening date. However, we do have some idea about what will be included with this huge expansion.

What the New Building Will Look Like

When Disney announced the new villas, they said the look would be “inspired by the early concepts for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.” Disney also released concept art of the new buildings. As you can see, the building itself has a Polynesian Village Resort look and feel with palm trees scattered about. We can also see chairs set up along the water (for fireworks viewing, possibly!) and a pool in the distance.

It’s being built on the shores of Seven Seas Lagoon, offering waterfront views. We can imagine that those staying in the new villas will have AMAZING views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Recreation and Amenities

Disney has also promised that the villas will offer new dining and swimming areas. We’ve already seen the construction of one building on the site that a Cast Member has told us could be a restaurant, with an area under construction just beyond that will reportedly be a new pool. So it looks like at least one restaurant could be attached to the pool (maybe more like a pool bar/lounge situation?). The original concept art includes a pool, so this could be where it will be.

Potential new restaurant and pool area

Disney has also mentioned that the new villas will have other “recreational areas,” although we don’t know exactly what that means just yet.

Rooms

We also know a little bit about the rooms. One, from construction photos and concept art, it seems every room will have a balcony, so expect great views. We can also surmise that the room sizes will include both 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom villas.

Looks like all rooms will have a balcony

Disney has said that Imagineers are working on making the rooms in a way that honors the past while working with the existing theme. Right now, the Polynesian’s other rooms are Moana-themed, so we might guess that the new villas will carry on with that theme in some way. We can also expect that the rooms will have Hey, Disney installed, as this service is already available in the Polynesian’s existing rooms.

Disney hasn’t given us a lot of details for these new DVC villas, yet, but we’ve been keeping an eye out for more information. We’re also keeping an eye on construction to see if we can spot any clues as to what the new villas might include. Stay tuned to DFB for more!
